The hormone of love.
Of connectedness.
Of calm.
The hormone we release during sex, during orgasm, during times of connection.
It's responsible for a woman's let-down reflex with breastfeeding.
It causes the uterus to contract in labour and birth.
And for an effective and efficient labour - you need LOTS of it!
I often ask my couples what are the sort of things you need when you make love? When you climax?
Of course that perfect recipe is individual; but on a whole I would say most of us like and need:
āØļø safety
āØļø privacy
āØļø low level lighting
āØļø relaxation
āØļø warmth
āØļø connection
āØļø intimacy
āØļø to be out of your head
āØļø surrender
āØļø a sense of letting go.
Think about how you can bring the above into your birth space. Perhaps you might like:
ā”ļø familiar faces for support
ā”ļø asking anyone wanting to enter your birth space for permission to do so first
ā”ļø fairy lights and candles as lighting
ā”ļø soothing smells
ā”ļø a warm room
ā”ļø your favourite pillow or blanket
ā”ļø your favourite music
ā”ļø using your breath
ā”ļø loving, tender touch
ā”ļø kisses
ā”ļø whispers of loving words in your ear
ā”ļø any items that bring you a sense of safety or calm
ā”ļø allowing the sensations to take you where you need to go.
